I Love It When A Plan Comes Together!

(Does anyone remember The A-Team?)

So, today I began the process of getting all my notes, scraps of paper, emails, and everything for my story collated into one place so that I can turn that into something more chronological and weed out the stuff that I will never in a million years use. Some of those notes turn out to be total crapola and end up in the trash where they belong. Sometimes I think of something in the middle of the night, and then later, I’m like, what was I thinking?

So, I gathered all the pieces into one messy Word file, cutting, pasting, scanning, etc. Now I have 21 pages of random notes and ideas and sometimes whole pages of potential scenes for the book. Right now, it’s just lots of ideas that need to be whittled down and organized into the correct order and then written up properly into a real outline for the book.

But, it’s the beginning, and it’s exhilarating because it’s the start of Coop and Gigi’s story and this one has a lot going on in it, so it should be at least as long as Grace’s story, which was quite a bit longer than Lorelei’s was before it.

Beginning a new book has a certain buzz to it, too. It’s like a new relationship, with all the promise of what is to come, except that if anything goes wrong with it, it definitely is me and not you.

I have this crazy idea that I can finish this outline and then go away for a few days on a planned mini-break – this means I have exactly six days to write the outline for this book. I have never given myself a deadline for an outline before, so we shall see if it’s possible or not, as I do have a lot of non-writing things on this week too. (Mundane stuff like having a new fridge fitted, LOL.)

So, I will try to remember to update this again once I finish the outline, but perhaps I will be too busy writing to do that? Wouldn’t that be nice!

Now, I’m off to cook cottage pie for my family as our fridge broke and I have to use up all the food before it goes off.

Oh, and before I forget, don’t forget to check out Winning Writers competitions for writers – they have some excellent ones for all types of writing, and I am in no way affiliated with them. I just like to recommend things I like:

So, here is the time I get to start working again on the outline for book three in my Lake Thomas romance series. Everyone else in my house has gone to bed, it’s so quiet I am fully aware of my tinnitus in a way I’m not during the day. There are very few traffic sounds outside my house, which sits on a fairly busy road but at this time, most people are at home. I will most likely be up another 2-3 hours working because no one can disturb me now. My phone will lay idly by as I sort snippets of plot into some semblance of order and then paste it into a notebook so I can use it as I type up the professional-looking version of my outline. This is the life of a writer and I love it.
